Dark Brew : A dark humor

Dark Brew is a film by Akash Goila, produced by Aashish Sachdeva, starring Vinay Pathak, Sheetal Thakur and Shibani Bedi. Akash is an Indie film and TV series Producer, Director and a renowned Public Speaker. He’s the founder of TalkWiz, a club that deals with Professional Speakers and their brand creation and marketing. He’s also associated with The Actor’s Studio, a recruitment agency for film, theater and television series. Akash is a visionary entrepreneur and film director who wishes to transform the short filmmaking scene by launching short theaters in India and transform the way filmmaking is done at grass root levels via his and Aashish Sachdeva's brand Filmeraa.

Vinay Pathak is a well-known actor in Indian television and movies. He has starred in many films like ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla’, ‘Bheja Fry’, and ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, etc. His career graph is a long one. In this film, he plays the pivotal character around whom the story revolves.

Sheetal Thakur began her acting career in Bollywood in 2013 with the movie ‘Lootera’. The winner of Miss Himachal Pradesh, her career graph from modeling to acting is quite a commendable feat.

A man commits a sin his dream and gets killed, will he survive when he wakes up?

In ‘Dark Brew’ Vinay Pathak essays the role of the character Anil Vadera who is a writer by profession. Sheetal Thakur plays Ria Bajaj, a Psychiatrist. Shibani Bedi plays the role of Geeta Vadera who is an ex-dancer by profession. Coming from Warewolf Production House, Dark Brew is a dark humor. It would be released in Hindi as well as in English.

The movie revolves around a Man's realization where he visualizes in his dream that his wife has caught him two-timing with another female and in the process also learns that she has plotted to kill him in the process. When the man wakes up he realizes he is still alive and starts firmly believing that his wife will actually kill him. Will he survive in real life? Will his consciousness make him a loyal man?

Would the mind rule or ruin? It’s a psychological mystery as I could guess from the trailer. Would be an interesting watch.

Queeristan by Parmesh Sahani

Queeristan (Amazon Link) Thanks to Audible Free Trial I listened to this amazing non-fiction on LGBTQ inclusion in Indian workplaces. Author Parmesh Sahani identifies as gay Indian, working closely with Godrej higher management and employees for years to create an inclusive workplace, both legally and in spirit. This book is a result of those years of experience, research, collaboration with individuals from difference spectrum of the society and organizations who has successfully transitioned into a queer friendly one.   Indian history is inclusive. From the Khajuraho temple architectures, to Konark to the Rig Veda, there is existing proofs even 2000 years ago of Indian inclusiveness of queer. It’s the draconian British law that criminalised it, which was scraped in 2009, came into effect once again following a sad judgement in 2013 and eventually was scraped off for good in 2018. I am in awe of the lawyers who fought this legal battle- colleagues and partners – Arundhati Katju
